Default Well, it's a new year.

Happy 2007 everyone, and congratulations to the GW crew for making it this far.

Cheers

Where do you forum people see GW at in a year? Dead? Thriving? I'm interested in opinions.

Personally, I think they'll stop at 4 chapters, and hopefully turn around to fix up or expand some of the old ones.

Hmm?

hmm.. I soppose it could probably last another year, or pretty close to one, but after that I think things might go a little downhill unless the game gains more replayability factor or something of the like, which, I'm sure will most likely happen.

Anyway, happy new year everybody!

I can picture it having at least 3 more chapters out and maybe after that, a dying community unless they make more games. I guess they'd make more if their popularity increased such as it has with the release of Nightfall.

If they stopped at anything, it would be now, since NF closed up the story of The 5 gods and Tyrian Heroes and all that. Chapter 4 is starting a whole new story, they have no reason to cut it off then..

One word: Diablo

Guild Wars will be around for a long time. It's got legs, and will provide significant profit for Anet for several years. Can you say "Cash Cow"?

All things considered, I think ANET did a hell of a job with a great game...
Happy New year, all...

My guess is most likely two, maybe three more chapters and then time to move on. That will have given Guildwars a heck of run in Online Gaming. Maybe onto GW 2. That sorta depends on how much they can update their current game engine - once they need to do a rewrite to make a "modern" game they will do so.

Not that I think that it will loose money, have no players, or any other pretty much nonsense - more that their development money and time will make more on something a little newer. At that point they will move on. It *will* happen at some point and anything over three years active development on new content (not just servers up) is very very very rare.

LMAO you do know that you can see the post time in your own timezone current time.

It could have been 12:01 at his place but 10:58 in your neck of the woods

And as for next year I'll beat you too it, I come from the future... OZ.

Saying forum timezones are set to what you set it up to as your timezone when you register, so his time might actually been new years. xD

Happy new years btw!

I love how everyone thinks world time revolves around them..

Anyway I think it will be around in a year.. but I also think it will start dying.. not majorly but with other mmorpg and online games, and the new consoles so I see a slight decline.

I wonder if that game will have a monthly fee?
I really like GW and will continue to play it, but when Aion comes out, I'm positive I'll try it out regardless of whether it costs a monthly fee.

Hmm?
the thing is, their company structure sort of demands they release at least 1 or so new product a year in order to keep their revenue stream up, so I doubt they will stop now, although im betting the next chapter will be smaller, if indeed it isnt an expansion for one of the existing chapters, which would be nice...
